On August 9, 2024, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Didier Trebucq,United NationsResident Coordinatorin Georgia, and Vladimir Shkolnikov, Senior Human Rights Adviserfor the Officeof the UNHigh Commissioner for Human Rights.

The human rights situation in Georgia, implementation of the anti-discrimination mechanism, as well as the situation of children, women and persons with disabilities, were discussed at the meeting.

The Public Defender emphasized the statistics of femicide cases and noted that preventive measures against the killing of women need to be strengthened.

The parties also talked about the needs of the population living near the occupation line, borderization and security challenges.

At the introductory meeting, Public Defender Levan Ioselian emphasized the long-term relationship between the institutions and discussed plans for future cooperation.
