Public Defender Wishes Population of Georgia A Happy Independence Day

On May 26, 1918, the Constituent Assembly of the State of Georgia declared independence. One of the main provisions of the Act of Independence concerned human rights:

"The Democratic Republic of Georgia shall equally ensure the civil and political rights of all citizens within its borders, regardless of nationality and gender."

The protection of human rights is the main goal of our statehood. According to the Constitution of Georgia, the unwavering will of the citizens of Georgia is to ensure universally recognized human rights and freedoms, to strengthen state independence and to have peaceful relations with other peoples.
