Information Meeting on Child Labour Issues

June 12 is World Day Against Child Labor. To mark this day, on June 11, 2021, representatives of the Western Georgia Division of the Public Defender's Office held an information meeting for schoolchildren and their parents living in different regions of Western Georgia. The meeting was also attended by social workers.The theme of the meeting was child labour.

Representatives of the Public Defender presented the Special Report of the Public Defender on Child Labour During COVID-19PandemicandBeyond, reviewed the main findings of the report, including the legal framework regulating child labour in the country and its compliance with international standards, as well as the main trends identified during the study according to regions. Special attention was paid to child labour under conditions of the novel coronavirus pandemic, as well as the causes of child labour.

Students also showed interest in the Public Defender's mandate and areas of activity.

The regional divisions of the Public Defender's Office systematically hold information meetings to raise civic education and civic awareness.
