Deputy Public Defender Meets with Representatives of OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

On June 1, 2023, Deputy Public Defender Natia Julakidze met with representatives of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities - senior advisor Natalia Mirimanova and project officer Edin Elgseiter.

The topic of discussion at the meeting was the importance of cooperation between the Public Defender and the OSCE Office. The parties emphasized the situation of the rights of national minorities in Georgia and relating challenges. The Deputy Public Defender introduced the work principles of the Public Defender’s Office to the guests, including the methods of identifying violations of the rights of national minorities and reflecting them in the reports.

Natia Julakidze confirmed to the OSCE representatives that the protection of the rights of national minorities was one of the important priorities of the Public Defender and the Public Defender’s Office. The parties agreed on the deepening of cooperation in this direction.
