Deputy Public Defender Meets with Netherlands’ Human Rights Ambassador

On June 28, 2022, Giorgi Burjanadze, Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, met with Bahia Tahzib-Lie, Human Rights Ambassador of the Netherlands, and Maaike van Koldam, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia.

Giorgi Burjanadze informed the guests of the activities of the Public Defender's Office and the current human rights situation in the country, including the investigation of hate crimes, the right to a fair trial and the rights situation of prisoners and vulnerable persons in Georgia.

The Human Rights Ambassador expressed his respect for the Public Defender's Office and its efforts. It was noted that at the official meetings with the Georgian authorities during the visit, the need and importance of cooperation with the Public Defender's Office has been constantly emphasized for achieving progress in the protection of human rights in the country.
