Adviser –Mary Kochlamazashvili
The position of the Adviser on Human Rights in Conflict-Affected Regions has been created in the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia since 2014.
The objective of the activities of the Adviser is to identify human rights violations in the conflict-affected and occupied regions, ensure timely response to them and take preventive measures.
The main tasks of the Adviser:
- Detect human rights violations in the conflict-affected and occupied regions by using proactive and reactive methods;
- Have constant communication with non-governmental organizations and the population of the conflict-affected regions in order to identify violations at an early stage;
- Examine and properly document human rights issues identified in the conflict-affected and occupied regions;
- Examine human rights violations in the conflict-affected and occupied regions and draw up relevant proposals/recommendations (if necessary, through coordination with relevant thematic structural units);
- Respond appropriately to the human rights issues identified in the conflict-affected and occupied regions by using all available methods;
Raise human rights awareness in the conflict-affected and occupied regions.
