Representatives of Gender Department of Public Defender’s Office Meet with Delegation from Tajikistan

On June 19, 2023, representatives of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia met with representatives of the Government, non-governmental and international organizations from the Republic of Tajikistan, who were paying a study visit to Georgia.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the activities of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia.

The acting Head of the Gender Department of the Public Defender's Office, Sopio Rusetski, spoke about the purpose of the creation of the Department, its work specifics and thematic directions, the services available in the country for victims of violence against women and domestic violence, as well as early marriage. The participants were also provided with information on the monitoring mechanisms of the Department and the practice of cooperation with agencies.

The chief specialist of the Gender Department, Nino Iakobidze, provided the members of the delegation with detailed information about the femicide monitoring mechanism, methodology, related challenges and achievements.

The meeting was held in active discussion mode. The members of the Tajik delegation received information on all issues important to them and expressed their readiness for further cooperation.
