Meetings relating to Human Rights Education in Telavi

On November 28-30, Gvantsa Davitashvili, Head of the Human Rights Education Department of the Public Defender of Georgia, held working meetings in Telavi.

The quality of human rights education at various faculties, especially in the direction of law, was discussed at the meeting with the rector and professors of Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. Gvantsa Davitashvili spoke about the effective mechanisms for the implementation of the Public Defender's recommendations and the future perspectives of mutual cooperation.

The representative of the Public Defender of Georgia also met with the teachers of the public schools of the region, where they discussed the involvement of the Public Defender at the level of general education, as well as the process of approving school textbooks. They discussed the recommendations issued by the Public Defender and the issue of creating new platforms for cooperation with teachers in the future.

At the meetings held with schoolchildren, the Head of the Human Rights Department spoke about the main directions of activity and the importance of human rights education. In addition, she received information about the work spaces and decorations made by the school students relating to human rights education.

The meetings were held within the framework of the partnership programme between the Public Defender’s Office and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
