On July 8, 2021, Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, and Ekaterine Skhiladze, Deputy Public Defender, met with Alanna Armitage, Director of UNFPA's Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Hassan Mohtashami, UNFPA Turkey Representative and Director of UNFPA Georgia Office, and Lela Bakradze, Head of the UNFPA Country Office in Georgia.

The meeting focused on the rights situation of the elderly in the country, importance of young people’ education in terms of gender equality, issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The guests thanked the Public Defender of Georgia for close cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund over the years and discussed prospects of future cooperation.
