Meeting with Representatives of UN Women

On July 18, 2024, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, and Irine Chikhladze, Deputy Public Defender, met Tamar Sabedashvili, UN Women DeputyCountryRepresentative in Georgia, and Tamar Vashakidze and Medea Gugeshashvili, representatives of the UN Women programmes.

The conversation touched on issues of gender equality, including the current situation of women, peace and security in Georgia, femicide, women's participation in political life, the rights situation of women in the penitentiary, as well as the monitoring of shelters and crisis centers for victims of domestic violence.

Both the Public Defender and the representatives of UN Women emphasized the importance of close cooperation, focused on the results of the implemented projects and agreed on the development of joint future plans.
