Public Defender Visits Villages Located Near Occupation Line

On August 7, 2024, on the 16th anniversary of the war, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani visited the villages of Goraka and Sakorintlo located along the occupation line, met with the local population and listened to their problems.

"Unfortunately, after 16 years, we still have to talk about the occupation, which is really devastating for our citizens, for people living here.

This is devastating in many ways, starting from security and ending with displacement, and all this is finally complicated by the fact that periodically we see the aggravation of situation, like the one that we saw in Kirbali, a sad fact when Tamaz Ginturi was killed."- said Public Defender Levan Ioseliani.

Locals name the lack of irrigation water as one of the main problems. They also demand special equipment to cultivate the land. The youth does not have a stadium, there is no house of culture or any type of meeting place for the population. Lack of information about the state services is also a problem.

The Public Defender continues to monitor the villages located near the occupation line and to advocate with the authorities for the issues that represent the main challenges for the local population.
