On September 12, 2024, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, and the Deputies of the Public Defender, Elene Ghudushauri and Irine Chikhladze, visited Rustavi (Women's) Penitentiary Establishment No. 5.

The Public Defender viewed the recent developments in the institution, visited the Department of Juveniles, the Department of Mothers and Children, the branch of the House of Justice, and received information about the process of implementation of prisoner rehabilitation programmes.

The Public Defender continues to monitor penitentiary institutions and supervise the state of protection of the rights of accused and convicted persons.
