On March 8, 2023, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani and Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze visited Tbilisi Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to meet the people detained during the March 7 rally in the vicinity of the Parliament of Georgia.

The Public Defender personally met and spoke with 25 citizens placed in the temporary detention center. According to Levan Ioseliani, several detainees have external injuries, one of the detainees has movement difficulty, while politician Zurab Girchi Japaridze has the most severe injuries.

It should also be noted that some of the detainees do not have a lawyer, and the Public Defender’s Office is assisting them in solving issues related to communication and appointment of a lawyer.
