On March 14, 2024, the Public Defender made another visit to Penitentiary Establishment No. 8 and met with all inmates sentenced to life imprisonment, who have undergone a 2-year preparatory programme for the purposes of commutation and parole.

The Public Defender listened to the views of the prisoners regarding the effectiveness of the programme and mechanism.

The Public Defender will continue to actively monitor the protection of the rights of the accused/convicts.
