Public Defender Congratulates Citizens of Georgia on Nowruz Bayram

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria congratulates the citizens of Georgia celebrating Nowruz Bayram today on this public holiday and wishes them goodness, joy and health.

Nowruz Bayram - the holiday of the arrival of the spring and the renewal of life, is a traditional, ethnic holiday of most of the Eastern nations. March 21 is considered to be the day of equalization of day and night, warming of the air, beginning of snow melting, flowering of trees and beginning of life. In some countries the New Year begins with Nowruz Bayram.

At the UNESCO Summit on September 28, 2009, Nowruz was put on the list of intangible cultural heritage of mankind. In 2010, the UN General Assembly recognized Nowruz as an international day and from the same year it has been declared a public holiday in Georgia.
