Public Defender Meets with Students Participating in Protests

The Public Defender’s Office will monitor the trial of students participating in the March 7-9 protests.

On March 17, 2023, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani met with the students participating in the protests and told them that the Office, within its mandate, will monitor the progress of the investigation relating to them.

The meeting took place after students addressed the Public Defender of Georgia publicly and asked for protection from the expected persecution and repressions by high-ranking officials of the ruling team and power structures.

The Public Defender once again confirmed his readiness to protect all the citizens who think that their freedom of expression was violated or feel threatened by the Government because of their political views.
