On August 24, 2023, during a visit to Samtskhe-Javakheti, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani met with the Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari Diocese, Metropolitan Nikoloz Pachuashvili.

The challenges in the region, the role of the Orthodox Church, consideration of multi-ethnicity of the region's population, rehabilitation of churches and monasteries and the state of cultural heritage protection were discussed at the meeting.

After the meeting, the Public Defender visited St. Michael theArchangel Cathedral in Akhalkalaki.
