Recommendations for New State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration
On April 14, 2021, the Public Defender of Georgia and the Tolerance Center of the Public Defender held a presentation of recommendations relating to the new state strategy for civic equality and integration.
The recommendations developed by the Public Defender of Georgia, the Council of National Minorities (Tolerance Center) and the Center for Social Justice (former EMC) were discussed at the event. Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, and Laura Berger, Deputy Director of the Democracy, Governance and Social DevelopmentOffice (USAID/Georgia) delivered welcome speeches.
The speakers focused on key priorities and issues such as access to quality education, promotion of equal participation in civic and political life, improvement in access to information and media, promotion of an equal and tolerant environment and access to justice.
After the presentation, participants discussed the main directions of the new state strategy for civic equality and integration and related issues, as well as the need to reflect the recommendations in the plan.
The event was organized with the support of the Promoting Integration, Tolerance and Awareness Project (PITA), which is being carried out by the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG) with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
