Conference on Inclusive and Diverse Elections in the Age of Technology

On February 9, 2024, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani took part in the high-level event "Inclusive and Diverse Elections in the Age of Technology" held in Batumi.

The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Members of Parliament, representatives of the authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and international organizations.

The participants in the event discussed the conceptual and strategic support for the youth involvement in political and electoral processes, inclusive election process, including the the involvement of persons with disabilities, ethnic, religious and sexual minorities, as well as the challenges and opportunities related to the participation of young people in political and electoral processes.

During his speech, the Public Defender of Georgia talked about the simplified rules and mechanisms for participation of vulnerable groups in the election processes.

Davit Gabaidze, Head of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Adjara, Anthony Banbury, President of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, and Renata Levovski, Director of the IFES Georgia Office, delivered welcome speeches at the event.

The conference was jointly organized by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
