“Child and Justice” - Public Defender's Office Holds Meetings in Schools
From September 25 to October 2, 2025, the Public Defender's Office held another series of meetings in public schools in various regions of Georgia on the topic - “Child and Justice”.
Employees of the Criminal Justice Department of the Public Defender's Office visited public schools in Imereti, Adjara, Samegrelo and Kakheti, where they met with 763 students of 22 schools.
As at the previous stages of the project, the training focused on the rights of minors in the process of interacting with the police. Children were provided with information on their rights and responsibilities during the implementation of various police measures. They were also provided with information about the agencies, to which they can apply in case of violation of rights, and their competences.
The Public Defender's Office will continue to hold information meetings and carry out activities aimed at raising citizens' awareness of their rights and the mechanisms provided for by legislation for their protection.
The Public Defender's Office welcomes the involvement of minors in similar meetings and their high interest, which indicates the need for such events. The Office thanks the teachers and administrations of public schools for their effective cooperation and support.
