On November 28, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Ashot Smbatyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia.

At the introductory meeting, Levan Ioseliani introduced the mandate, activities and priorities of the Public Defender’s Office to the Ambassador. The parties talked about the specifics of the work of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the Public Defender of Georgia, the issues of integration of the ethnic Armenian population in the country, their involvement in self-government activities and the decision-making process.

The parties also spoke about the situation of human rights in Georgia and Armenia and expressed readiness for future cooperation.
