Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark
On November 7, 2023, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani and First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze met with Henrik Winther, Head of Department for European Neighborhood at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, and Dorrit Skaarup Jensen, Chief Advisor at the Department.
Levan Ioseliani introduced the Danish diplomats to the mandate and scope of authority of the Public Defender’s Office, as well as the forms of cooperation with international partners, networks and diplomatic representations of foreign countries accredited in Georgia. They also talked about the perspective of European integration of Georgia and the forthcoming assessment by the European Commission.
Other topics discussed included the situation of human rights in the country, high-profile cases, difficult rights situation of people living in the occupied territories and along the occupation line, and the killing of a Georgian citizen by the Russian occupation forces on November 6.
The Public Defender thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for releasing a statement in support of Georgia in connection with the killing of a Georgian citizen near the village of Kirbali
