Video message by UN Secretary-General António Guterres

UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued a special message in connection with the international Human Rights Day on December 10, 2021, addressing the key challenges facing humanity today - the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the expansion of digital technology into all areas of our lives that have created new threats to human rights.

The UN Secretary-General noted that the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 73 years ago was an important step for humanity and the principles set out in this Declaration remain the key to realizing all human rights – civil, economic, cultural, social, and political – for all people, everywhere.

According to the Secretary-General, the United Nations stands for the rights of every person and will continue to work for justice, equality, dignity and human rights for all.
