IDPs, Eco-Migrants and Livelihood Agency Implements Public Defender’s Recommendation
The IDPs, Eco-Migrants and Livelihood Agency LEPL implemented the recommendation of the Public Defender and resettled an eco-immigrant family, whose house had been damaged by disaster, in a safe environment.
The study of the case by the Public Defender’s Office made it clear that during the initial consideration of resettlement, the IDPs, Ecomigrants and Livelihood Agency did not have information about the geological processes in the vicinity of the applicant's residence, which posed a threat to the life and health of the family.
The Public Defender of Georgia addressed the Agency with a recommendation to study the geological situation in the vicinity of the applicant's residence and make a new, reasoned decision.
Based on the recommendation of the Public Defender, the IDPs, Eco-Migrants and Livelihood Agency resumed proceedings regarding the resettlement of the applicant's family and applied to the National Environment Agency to examine to what extent the ongoing geological processes posed a threat to the sustainability of the applicant's residence. On the basis of the geological assessment, the agency made a positive decision regarding the resettlement of the eco-immigrant family.
