Public Defender Visits Gori Social Housing

On May 3, 2023, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani visited the Gori social housing, which houses about 300 people. The Public Defender met with the beneficiaries, viewed the building and checked the living conditions.

"I can unequivocally say that I have never seen a more difficult situation than the one that I saw today in the Gori social housing. There are no bathrooms in the building and these families, including children and persons with disabilities, have to live in such conditions.

We will do our best so that the local and central authorities find funds, resettle these people and provide them with normal conditions", said the Public Defender.

About 80 families live in the Gori social housing located in the building of a former drug addiction treatment center. The residence does not have sewage or drainage systems, there is no kitchen or individual bathrooms. Residents do not have access to clean water, which poses a special threat to their lives and health.

The Public Defender also met with Shida Kartli Governor Mikheil Shakulashvili regarding the situation of citizens placed in the Gori social housing.
