Public Defender's Representatives Visit Another Person Placed in Temporary Detention Center
On November 25, 2024, a representative of the Public Defender of Georgia visited another person in the temporary detention center. The citizen was detained on charges of attacking the police on November 24.
According to the detainee, disproportionate force was used against him during his detention and he became a victim of alleged ill-treatment or excessive force.
As far as the Public Defender’s Office is informed, the Special Investigation Service is investigating the above-mentioned case. The Public Defender’s Office will monitor the progress of the investigation.
The Public Defender’s representative also visited Isako Devidze, who was detained on November 19 and is on a hunger strike in the temporary detention center.
It is noteworthy that Isako Devidze was visited by the representative of the Public Defender on the very first day of his detention. Based on the information provided by him, the Office applied to the Special Investigation Service for a response.
The Public Defender’s Office continues to study the case and monitor the ongoing investigation into the facts of ill-treatment.
