Public Defender's Visit to Community Organizations of Persons with Disabilities

On November 7, 2024, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, visited the community services for persons with disabilities located in the villages of Sakobo and Gremi, Kakheti region, and received information about the rights situation of persons living in the institutions.

The Public Defender inspected the physical environment of the community services, living rooms of the beneficiaries, dining spaces, bathrooms, yard, met and talked with the administration, employees and beneficiaries of the community organizations.

During the visit, special attention was paid to the safe environment and conditions in the organizations, sanitary conditions, proper nutrition and care aspects, the importance of promoting the independent life and social activity of persons with disabilities.

The Public Defender continues to monitor the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in community services and the deinstitutionalization process ongoing in the country, in order to protect the rights of persons with disabilities in state care.

Deputy Public Defender Irine Chikhladze and employees of the central and regional offices also visited the community organizations together with the Public Defender.
