Training for Representatives of Private Sector on Equality Issues

On September 25-27, 2024, employees of the Equality Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia held training for representatives of the private sector - "The right to equality and elimination of discrimination: Prevention and response mechanisms". The event was held in cooperation with the Labour Inspection Service and was supported by the Council of Europe.

Within the framework of the training, representatives of public institutions and private sector of the field of economy received detailed information on the essence of equality, the principle of non-discrimination, forms and main characteristics of discrimination; Special attention was paid to the topics of discrimination in labour relations and sexual harassment in the workplace and the relevant response mechanisms; Information was also provided about the mandates and practices of the Public Defender and the Labour Inspection Service.

The Public Defender’s Office welcomes the willingness of the economic sector to deepen its knowledge regarding equality issues.

The Public Defender considers educational activity to be the most important component in the process of ensuring equality and he will continue cooperation with various agencies and organizations in this direction in the future as well.
