Public Defender Signs Second Settlement Act relating to Alleged Discrimination
On August 30, 2024, the parties settled a case being processed by the Public Defender’s Office – relating to the alleged violation of labour rights with an alleged discriminatory motive. According to the agreement, the respondent undertook to pay the applicant a wage for 2 months as monetary compensation. The Public Defender is glad that the parties were able to reach a compromise decision and fulfilled the obligations provided for by the settlement act.
The Public Defender emphasizes the importance of settling a dispute between the parties as a quick, efficient and acceptable method of dispute resolution. The Public Defender will try, in future activities, to use the possibility of settlement between the parties even more actively in cases of alleged discrimination.
It should be noted that since 2014, after the Law of Georgia on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination came into force, the Public Defender has settled a dispute between the parties for the second time.
