The practice of disciplinary proceedings against the prisoners in Georgia
The Public Defender’s (Ombudsman’s) Office of Georgia examined the legislative basis and the practice of disciplinary proceedings against the prisoners in the penitentiary system of Georgia. The following report contains the legislative and practice-related flaws of the related procedures that were identified by the Office.
The Public Defender maintains that the state shall take timely and effective measures to appropriately handle the recognized issues by adopting the relevant pieces of legislation and amending the ongoing practice. Thereby, the Public Defender issued appropriate recommendations to the Parliament of Georgia and the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
