Workshop on Gender Sensitive Reporting

On June 22, 2018, the Public Defender of Georgia held a workshop on gender sensitive reporting for journalists, media experts and other stakeholders.

Participants of the workshop listened to the experts' views about ethical reporting on vulnerable groups of women, violence against women, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Ana Arganashvili, a representative of the Partnership for Human Rights, Ekaterine Aghdgomelashvili, a representative of the Women's Initiatives Supportive Group, and Tamta Mikeladze, a representative of the Human Rights Monitoring and Training Center, focused on issues relating to the vulnerable groups of women, namely reporting on women with disabilities, Muslim women and LBT women.

Tamar Dekanosidze, a representative of the Young Lawyers’ Association, Sopo Tabaghua, a representative of the Psycho-social Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture, and Lela Shengelia, a representative of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, spoke about violence against women and domestic violence, as well as sexual and reproductive health and the right.

Discussion was held about various topics at the end of the workshop.

The event was organized by the Department of Gender Equality of the Public Defender's Office with the financial support from the UN Women.
