Public Defender’s Office of Hosts Delegation from Uzbekistan
On November 27, 2023, acting Head of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia, Sopio Rusetski, met with representatives of non-governmental and international organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who were on a study visit in Georgia within the framework of the USAID Legal Reform Program being carried out in Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, members of the Uzbek delegation received information about the current situation of gender equality, violence against women and domestic violence in the country, as well as services for victims of violence against women and domestic violence.
Sopio Rusetski spoke about the history of the creation of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia, its activities, thematic directions and the practice of cooperation with agencies.
Participants in the meeting also received information about the femicide monitoring mechanism, methodology, as well as achievements and challenges in the process of research.
The meeting was held in an active discussion mode. Members of the Uzbek delegation received information on all issues important to them and expressed their desire for further cooperation.
