Nana Devdariani (born on October 10, 1958, in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR) - a Georgian politician, former journalist and former Public Defender of Georgia. In 1984, she graduated from Shota Rustaveli State Theater Institute – the department of drama director. From 1983 to 1990 she worked in the youth editorial office of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting. She has received Georgian and international journalistic awards. In 1990, together with her associates, she founded the first independent TV channel - Mermisi and became its general producer. In 1992 she founded an independent TV company - Droni. In 1993 she was awarded the Mana Prize as the best producer. In 1992-1995 she was a Member of the Parliament of Georgia. In 1998 she was elected a member of Tbilisi City Assembly. She was the secretary of the City Assembly. In 1999 she was elected a Member of the Parliament of Georgia. In 2000 she became the Public Defender of Georgia. In 2003 she was the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission. In 2001-2005 she worked as the night programme editor at Imedi TV. She has been delivering lectures at Tbilisi State University in various years.
