Training for Journalists - Reporting on Issues of Internally Displaced Persons-Refugees

On February 25-26, 2016, training - "Reporting on Issues of Internally Displaced Persons-Refugees" was held for journalists within the framework of the project “Enhancing Capacities of the Public Defender's Office to Address the Situation of IDPs".

The program was aimed at raising awareness on the rights of internally displaced persons-refugees. During the training, participants learned about the standards of reporting, deepened their knowledge in the field of the rights of internally displaced persons and became familiar with the Public Defender’s activities as well as with the international practice in sensitive reporting.

Participants of the training were welcomed by the Public Defender, who focused on the role of media sources in reporting on the issues of internally displaced persons.

The training was led by a local expert and member of the Board of Journalistic Ethics of Georgia, Maia Metskhvarishvili, and representatives of the Public Defender's Office, Nino Sulamanidze and Meri Kochlamazashvili.

The project is funded by the British Embassy to Georgia.
