International Day for Tolerance - 2024
On November 16, 2024, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani took part in an event held in connection with the International Day for Tolerance, which was organized by the State Agency for Religious Issues. This year, the event was hosted by the Yezidi Theological Council of Georgia.
In his speech, the Public Defender talked about the importance of civil integration and religious freedom in Georgia; According to him, the Public Defender’s Office has been working for many years to introduce a culture of tolerance, freedom of religion, equality and civil integration in the country. The Public Defender emphasized the efforts of the Office to study the situation of tolerance in the country, achievements, challenges and trends, which are reflected in the annual parliamentary reports of the Public Defender.
Chairman of the Yezidi Theological Council Dimitri Firbari, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze, as well as representatives of the Orthodox, Catholic, Armenian, Gospel Faith, Evangelical-Lutheran Churches, Union of Christian-Baptist Churches, Jewish Union and Muslim Community also delivered welcome speeches at the event.
