In August and September 2022, the Acting Head of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office, Sopio Rusetski, and the Chief Specialist of the Gender Department, Ana Lobzhanidze, held meetings with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Shida Kartli (Gori and Khashuri), Imereti (Kutaisi) and Samegrelo (Zugdidi) municipalities.

The topics discussed included access to protection and support services for female victims of violence and women belonging to various vulnerable groups, forms of violence, reporting of violence to the law enforcement agencies and detection of incidents of violence. Police officers talked about domestic violence, femicide, preventive measures, women's economic empowerment and challenges encountered during the investigation stage.

The Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office continues to hold informational meetings on violence against women and domestic violence in the regions.
