On February 27, 2024, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Anna Lyberg, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia.

The Public Defender introduced the mandate and priorities of the Office to the Ambassador, briefly reviewed the current situation of human rights in the country, including the difficult and dangerous conditions of people living in the vicinity of the occupied territories of Georgia, and from this point of view he emphasized the importance of the EU Monitoring Mission, in which the Kingdom of Sweden is actively involved.

They also talked about the role of the Office in the measures to be implemented by Georgia for the prospect of joining the European Union.

At the introductory meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation.
