Discussions on Human Rights: Equality is Important
On 10 December 2018, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia organized a public event – “Discussions on Human Rights: Equality is Important" to mark the Human Rights Day. The importance of equality and diversity were discussed in various contexts.
The event was opened by the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, CristianUrse and was moderated by the Public Defender of Georgia. „Inequality is in the basis of any problem, be it social, economic or other. Inequality has caused the problems existing in Georgia today," Nino Lomjaria said.
The speakers talked about equality, fight against hatred and violence in the context of Christianity, Georgian literature, cinematography and psychology. They shared their histories, personal practices and opinions relating to equality with the attendees.
The event, held at the Ilia State University, was attended by students, representatives of civil society and embassies. They were able to share their views on human rights, equality and diversity and to write messages on a “human rights wall".
