Public Defender Negotiates Settlement of Labour Dispute

On February 24, 2025, the Public Defender's Office negotiated a settlement of another case between the parties relating to the violation of labour rights on allegedly discriminatory grounds.

The Public Defender is pleased that the parties were able to reach a compromise decision and fulfill the obligations set forth in the settlement act.

One of the important powers of the Public Defender, as the national mechanism for combating discrimination, is to conduct oral hearings and negotiate a settlement of disputes, which is an acceptable method for both parties.

It should be noted that since 2014, after the Law of Georgia on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination came into force, the Public Defender has negotiated a settlement of the dispute between the parties for the third time.

The Public Defender will continue to make more active use of the mechanism of settlement between the parties in cases of alleged discrimination.
