Public Defender's Statement on Crackdown on Rally underway on Rustaveli Avenue

The Public Defender echoes the protests on Rustaveli Avenue and notes that when law enforcement agencies began to crack down on the rally (00:34), the protest was peaceful and there was no legal grounds for the crackdown or interference with freedom of assembly.

The Public Defender calls on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to stop cracking down on the rally, arresting participants in the protest, and using special equipment, and to allow the participants to continue their protest.
