Public Defender’s Statement on Medical Council
Public Defender Levan Ioseliani is echoing the false media reports that the doctors that are members of the medical council created to monitor Mikheil Saakashvili's medical services are waiting for his decision to visit the third president.
According to the Public Defender, when there is a need, the council itself makes a decision on visiting the convicted person and the Public Defender does not interfere in this process, except for the formal part related to the issuing and signing of the documents necessary to visit the convict. The said matter has been resolved and credentials will be provided to them at any time upon request.
The Public Defender met the members of the medical council last week and informed them about Mikheil Saakashvili's desire to be visited by them. In addition, Levan Ioseliani unequivocally confirmed at the meeting that the council would have all kinds of support from him.
The Public Defender emphasizes once again that all the monitoring mechanisms that the Public Defender has regarding Mikheil Saakashvili's health are maintained and this process will not be hampered by him.
