On December 8, 2023, representatives of the Public Defender’s Office, Nino Atabegashvili and Tamar Gugutishvili, held informative meetings with schoolchildren and students of the Kutaisi higher education institution.

About fifty young people were involved in the events and discussions.

The topics of environmental protection and labour rights were discussed at the meetings. The representatives of the Public Defender’s Office introduced to the participants the mandate and activities of the Public Defender, the content and protection standards of the above-mentioned rights, the challenges identified by the Office in the process of realizing these rights and specific examples. The students and schoolchildren received information about their legal guarantees in the direction of environmental protection and labour rights.

The event was held within the framework of the partnership programme of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia.
