Employees of Gender Department of Public Defender’s Office Meet with Moldovan Delegation
On April 4, 2023, the employees of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia, Sopio Rusetski and Gvantsa Kharatishvili, met with the representatives of a delegation from the Republic of Moldova, who are paying a study visit to Georgia.
The purpose of the study visit was to familiarize with the work specifics of the Public Defender's Office as a femicide monitoring mechanism.
The Public Defender’s representatives provided members of the delegation with detailed information about the femicide monitoring methodology and research process, introduced the thematic directions of the work of the Gender Department and discussed the achievements and challenges in the area of violence against women and domestic violence in Georgia.
The delegation included representatives of the police, social assistance, health services, forensic medicine, prosecutor's office, probation and penitentiary system, education, state legal aid, non-governmental and international organizations, who are also members of the commission for monitoring and analyzing cases of domestic violence in the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting was held in active discussion mode. Members of the Moldovan delegation received information on all issues important to them and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
