Public Defender Receives Information about Operation of Sarpi Border Checkpoint during COVID-19 Pandemic

On August 6, 2020, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria visited the Border-Migration Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in Sarpi and received information about the procedures of crossing the state border between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey during the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

The Public Defender viewed the territory of the border-migration unit and the temporary quarantine space arranged on the spot. She also checked the procedures of passport control, placement in quarantine and self-isolation, thermoscreening, etc.

In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs briefed the Public Defender on the temporary rules and procedures for leaving the territory of Georgia by the citizens of Georgia who wish to work in the Republic of Turkey.
