Public Defender Meets with Representatives of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights

On 10 September 2019, Public Defender of Georgia Nino Lomjaria met with Megan Fitzgerald, Deputy Head of the Democratization Department of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

At the meeting, the Public Defender reviewed the report of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, which assesses the process of selection of Supreme Court judges in Georgia and identifies a lot of shortcomings.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze, Public Defender’s Parliamentary Secretary Tatuli Todua and ODIHR Local Monitoring Officer Ana Kakalashvili.

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) observes the selection of judges of the Supreme Court of Georgia on the basis of the Public Defender's appeal.
