Public Defender Meets with Representatives of US Embassy
On November 7, 2024, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, and Elene Ghudushauri, Deputy Public Defender, met with Charles Schmitt, Legal Advisor of the Department of Justice of the US Embassy in Georgia, and Jeff Goebel, Head of the USAID's BureauforDemocracy, HumanRightsandGovernance.
The parliamentary elections held in Georgia were discussed at the introductory meeting. The Public Defender introduced the mandate and activities of the Office in the direction of election supervision to the guests; He spoke about the violations detected both during the pre-election campaign and on the election day and the response implemented in accordance with the authority.
The parties also discussed the progress of the partnership programme between USAID and the Public Defender and agreed on the possibilities of its continuation.
