Public Defender Meets with Head of Special Investigation Service
Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Koka Katsitadze, Head of the Special Investigation Service.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the further strengthening of future cooperation between the two agencies.
The fruitful cooperation with the Public Defender’s Office was emphasized at the meeting, which includes the provision of information and statistics on the ongoing investigations, the rights situation of victims, as well as the notifications received from the Public Defender’s Office regarding the violations of citizens' rights and the methods of responding to them.
The conversation also touched upon the projects implemented and the positive results achieved in 2022-2023 with the active involvement and participation of the representatives of the Public Defender's Office, including in areas such as victims’s access to the criminal case materials, the use of special protection measures for the safety of witnesses and victims, and the creation of the Division for the Protection of Victims' Rights.
The Special Investigation Service will actively continue to cooperate with the Public Defender’s Office and human rights organizations and to participate in joint projects with them.
