Public Defender's Office Launches New Project with Financial Support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland

The Public Defender's Office launched a new project with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland in November, aiming to monitor the implementation of the right to access to drinking water and sanitation, as well as to conduct relevant awareness-raising campaigns across the country. Special attention will be paid to the availability of drinking water and sanitation in the educational institutions of regions.

The project was based on the Public Defender's findings about the access to safe and harmless water for juveniles, mechanisms of monitoring and observance of sanitation-hygienic norms in Georgia in 2016-2017.

During the implementation of the project, in order to familiarize with international practice, the Public Defender's Office will actively cooperate with the international organization Waterlex and the Public Defender's Office of Armenia, which will share its experience on monitoring the implementation of the right to access to drinking water and sanitation with Georgian colleagues.
