On February 7, 2017, the Public Defender of Georgia held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador of Canada to Georgia, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, Chris Cooter.

The Public Defender briefed the Ambassador of the human rights situation in Georgia, as well as the activities of the Public Defender’s Office, recommendations and initiatives prepared by the Office with the aim to improve the human rights situation. The meeting discussed the issue of creation of a labor inspection, the work of the Constitutional Court and the progress of the judicial reform as well.

The Public Defender and the Ambassador agreed to closely cooperate in the future in order to strengthen the human rights activities of the Public Defender’s Office.
