A representative of the Public Defender's Office, within his mandate, was monitoring developments at the 48^thpolling station in Marneuli’s 36^thconstituency. When the situation was escalated during mobilization of people in the vicinity of a polling station, our representative called on police officers standing nearby to take action. It should be noted that local population was particularly aggressive towards the police, which resulted in a confrontation between the police officers and local residents. As a result, both sides were affected.

I call on the election entities and their supporters to refrain from making statements that escalate the situation and not to allow violence.

I also call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take intensive efforts for the prevention of violence, and to quickly and effectively ensure prevention and proper investigation of each case of violence.
